Getting Started
If you're new to Trappist, this page is for you.
Important Note: While Trappist 1 is playable right now, it is still under development. The playable game is what's called a vertical slice, which shows a small sliver of the game, with a few quests, dialogs, explorable regions, gatherable resources and craftable items.
Having this playable teaser so early is part of our open development approach to this project. It's important to know that, for now, your earnings and crafted items are NOT on-chain and that all accounts will periodically be deleted.
For this reason, we have not activated any in-game purchasing of coins.
Installation and Logging In
Download the installer [here, but not quite yet ...].
Once download is complete, run install.exe.
The launcher will install and the installer will exit.
Run the launcher. It will automatically install the game and keep it up-to-date from now on.
When the big button says [Play], Trappist 1 is installed. Click [Play] and the game will launch.
The log in screen will show, here you have two options:
If this is your first time playing, tick [x] Remember Me, then [Guest]. This will auto-create an account and character for you.
If this is your second or subsequent time playing on this PC, you should see the username and password already filled out. Just click [Log in].
That's it! You're in the game! Enjoy! Give feedback early and often, if you please!
Your First Quest
You will begin the game at a research base in a suspiciously Earth-like forest. There's a person in front of you, named Zara Velk. You'll see that her title is "New Player Guide" so move up to her and right-click or hold <F> to interact.
Zara has a number of options you can select to learn about where you are and how you can help the colony. You can read through these if you like.
One of the options has a yellow exclamation point "!" indicating it's a quest. When you're ready, select that option to see the quest and accept it.
Once you have accepted the quest, press <I> to open your inventory and right-click the axe that Zara gave you. This will equip the axe so you can use it to harvest logs.
Go exploring in the surrounding forest. You'll find logs on the ground (there are no logs outside the forest, so if you' reach the edge, turn around). Get close to them and right-click or hold <F> to harvest. You will receive some combination of:
Maple wood
Tree bark
Tree sap
Once you have collected everything for the quest, the chat window in the lower-left of the screen will tell you so. Return to Zara for your reward and more quests!
And beyond!
Zara has other quests for you, as do the other people in the research base. Completing them will teach you some basic skills and crafting blueprints, and will eventually lead you to Settlement Prime, and then, literally, to the moon!
Please remember that this is a vertical slice and is very light on content. Keep up with developments as we expand the game, enlarging the initial areas, adding new planets, new blueprints, competitions, quests and other content.
